The Cult Euro 1 Test has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Validation Award from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This award recognizes projects within the "Validation of the Technological and Societal Innovation Potential of Scientific Research (VIP+)" program that excel in translating research results into impactful applications.
The Cult Euro 1 Test marks a breakthrough in measuring intercultural competence: As the first validated and standardized test, it enables the precise assessment of both cross-cultural and culture-specific competence areas. With its certification by the Transparency Certificate of the German Test Commission and the use of state-of-the-art IRT-based methods, it sets new standards for scientific validity and practical applicability.
This fully digital test provides companies, public authorities, and researchers with customized, scientifically sound results. It promotes intercultural understanding, supports sustainable human resource development, and significantly contributes to labor market integration in Germany.
The nomination for the 2025 Validation Award highlights the innovative strength and societal value of this project.
The Cult Euro 1 Test is available also in a short version, which can be processed in 10 minutes. The fast but nevertheless reliable instrument enables a rapid assessment of intercultural competence and is ideally appropriate for targeted personnel decisions or research.
On 25.06.2024 the Cult Euro 1 Test for intercultural competence was distinguished with the Transparency Certificate of the German Test Board. This certification confirms the high quality and clarity of the test procedure. The Cult Euro 1 Test excels with its innovative methodology which allows it to measure intercultural competence in a targeted and practice-oriented way. With the Transparency Certificate the test is recognized as a reliable instrument which is applied in the academic and professional practice.
On Thursday, March 10, 2022, a research group from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences welcomes you to a workshop presenting the latest findings on measuring and promoting intercultural competence.
Intercultural encounter scenarios have become an integral part of everyday life in Germany due to the diverse globalization processes. This results in the challenge to integrate different perspectives and skills as well as to design intercultural communication efficiently and considerately so that this diversity can be used productively.
The workshop will take place online via ZOOM on March 10, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:45 pm.
TV host Sissi Hajtmanek will moderate the event. Prof. Poortinga (Tilburg University), a renowned figure in the field of intercultural psychology, will deliver the Keynote Lecture. Afterwards, the research team of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences will present their research results. This will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the field (including DB, the Federal Employment Agency and Zalando).

Background:
Intercultural contact situations have become an integral part of professional and everyday life in Germany due to the diverse globalization processes, ongoing digitalization and increasing international mobility. In this context, companies and authorities are faced with the challenge of integrating different perspectives and skills and designing intercultural communication in an efficient and respectful manner. Intercultural competence is therefore a decisive factor for administrations, employees and managers in order to optimally use the potential of social diversification now and in the future and to master challenges.
Content of the workshop:
During this workshop (on March 10th, 2022) current perspectives and research results on intercultural competence and its measurement were presented. In addition, there was an exchange with practitioners from companies and public agencies who contributed their professional experience.
The experienced TV presenter Sissi Hajtmanek led through the workshop. Prof. Ype Poortinga, a luminary in the field of intercultural psychology, gave a keynote speech on the scientific basis and the implementation of intercultural training. Afterwards, Prof. Petia Genkova presented the latest research results of the project team at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences on intercultural competence measurement. This was followed by a panel discussion with participants from professional practice, with representatives from Deutsche Bank, the Federal Employment Agency, an integration office of the city of Berlin, Zalando and Schaeffler.
