Completed Projects
As a teambuilding method, students of the undergraduate programs in occupational, speech and physiotherapy participated in a group trip. They traveled on the three mast gaffel schooner “Gro?herzogin Elisabeth” during the project week of the summer semester in 2008. Christina Groll, an enthusiastic sailor, accompanied the excursion. Her prior experience at sea led her to hypothesize that the unstableness of a boat may improve balance. In order to prove her hypothesis, a pre-test, post-test controlled clinical trial was conducted. Balance skills of the participants were measured before and after the boadtrip. Students who did not attend the excursion served as a control group. “BalensoSenso” in connection with a round balance board was used for assessment.
Outcomes of the study will be published shortly.
Special thanks to Mr Reinert of the company RehaPrax for the sponsoring of the BalensoSenso.
The textbook “Für die Physiotherapie - Physiologie und Anatomie“ published by Professor Dr. Christoff Zalpour is regarded as core literature for physiotherapists. It was released for the first time in 2002 and is currently being reviewed for the 3rd edition. Through the 3rd edition, the reader will have access to two new features: web-based learning and an internet portal.
This project aims to establish a health promotion program at the University of Applied Science Osnabrück. A questionnaire revealed the need for a health promotion program at the University of Applied Science Osnabrück. As a result, health committees were established at all locations of the University of Applied Science Osnabrück to develop concrete projects. These projects have been reviewed and accepted by a supervison team and are being implemented today. One project takes place at the INAP/O where employees are encouraged either to participate in health promotion groups or to receive individual physiotherapy or osteopathic treatments. Further aims include evaluation of the implemented health promotion programs and the revision and validation of the questionnaire.
Christina Groll is a scientific assistant with this project. She coordinates and evaluates the program and is involved in the therapy sesssions as well. She also participates in the German network of “Health Promoting Universities”.
The project “Let’s go – every step keeps you fit“ is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Health (Bundesministerium für Gesundheit) and is carried out in cooperation with the German Hiking Association (DWV – Deutscher Wander Verband). The project was started on April 1, 2008 and will continue for 21 months.
The primary goal is to develop a training program to instruct both hiking guides and physiotherapists to become “health hiking guides.” The first training was held in Arnsberg in September 2008. Further steps include the development of a Hiking Fitness Pass and a German hiking badge.
Finally, hiking shall be accepted as a prevention course according to §20 SGB V (Code of Social Law V). Bettina Schulze Temming coordinates this projects on behalf of the department of physiotherapy.
